The team behind 18.21 Bitters has opened a new cocktail and craft hot dog stall at Ponce City Market.
Missy and Kristin Koefod’s new venture is located in the Central Food Hall next to Lucky Lotus, in the stall formerly occupied by Simply Seoul, which sold kimchee and buns and closed earlier this year. The Koefod’s cocktail supply shop 18.21 Bitters is also located on Ponce City Market’s first floor.
Drafts + Dogs’ all-day food menu features twists on the classic hot dog, including ‘The Californian,’ a black angus beef hot dog topped with black bean and corn salsa, avocado, sharp cheddar, sour cream and cilantro; ‘I’m So Fancy (You Already Know),’ a black angus beef hot dog topped with truffle butter, lobster and caviar; and ‘The King Cavalier,’ made with banana, peanut butter, marshmallow creme and chocolate sauce. Vegan options, naked dogs and Chicago-style dogs are also available.
Accompanying the food menu is a selection of 18.21 Bitters’ cocktails, including draft and frozen cocktails and new takes on classic drinks. Offerings include ‘Run Forrest, Run,’ including Old Forester Bourbon, peach, ginger, lemon, 18.21 Prohibition Aromatic Bitters and a lemon slice; ‘Desert Sky,’ made with mezcal, tequila, chareau aloe, hibiscus, 18.21 Watermelon Mint Shrub, lime, and a sprig of mint; and a frozen negroni ‘Stop Trying to Make Fetch Happen.’ The shop also offers craft beer and wine, as well as non-alcoholic drink options.
The Koefods — who also have cocktail bar The James in the works along the Eastside Beltline — developed Drafts + Dogs “as a homage to the simplicity and comfort found in the meals they shared while traveling around the world,” according to a press release.
Through June 9th, Drafts + Dogs will offer one hot dog and one cocktail on the menu with 100 percent of profits going to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The dog and cocktail selection changes weekly.
