If your cocktail game is stuck in a rut, there are several new places around metro Atlanta to try (and a few that are on their way).
Apron and Overdrive Lounge. Part of the Solis Two Porsche Drive hotel that opened late last year, this restaurant and cocktail lounge offer signature cocktails with local spirits such as ASW Fiddler bourbon and Old Fourth Ward vodka, a diverse wine list including French, Spanish, Italian and California selections and a beer list with local crafts such as Queen’s Weiss from Hapeville neighbor Arches Brewing.

Bar Americano and Bar Crema. The sister concepts from the team behind The Mercury and The Pinewood both offer a variety of cocktails with an emphasis on Italian aperitivis and digestivis including the Venetian Spritz, the Americano and the Sgroppino, as well as wine and beer.

Chai Yo. This Thai restaurant’s cocktail menu features drinks made using Thai-influenced ingredients including butterfly pea flower, lychee, lemongrass and kaffir lime. Beer, wine, cider and sake are also on the beverage list. 3050 Peachtree Road NW, Atlanta. chaiyoatl.com
Lingering Shade. This long-awaited cocktail bar is finally open in Irwin Street Market along the Beltline Eastside Trail. Look for classic cocktails, 10 beers on tap and a selection of Southern appetizers including boiled peanuts.

Paper Crane. Open since late 2017, the cocktail bar from the team behind Staplehouse is located in the restaurant’s upstairs space and features a rotating cocktail list with five or six drinks (including a sparkling Negroni).

The Painted Duck. The duckpin bowling alley serves up signature and classic cocktails, artisanal wines by the glass and local and craft beer. The Frosted Duck L’Orange, inspired by the Varsity’s Frosted Orange, is spun-up with vodka, coconut milk, orange soda, lemon and lime juice, orange flower water and vanilla. And there are two signature cocktails on draft.

Public Kitchen & Bar. The first Atlanta location of the Savannah-based restaurant group offers a variety of craft cocktails including the Savannah Panhandler (Virgil Kane Robber Baron rye, lemon juice, ginger gastrique and spiced honey) and Bramble On (Dixie vodka or Four Roses bourbon, St. Germain, giffard creme de cassis d’anjou, blueberries and lemon juice), an extensive wine list and a selection of beers to go along with its lengthy lunch and dinner menus.

Recess. With warm weather finally on the way, we’re looking forward to sipping on the rotating, seasonal frozen cocktail from this new Krog Street Market spot that also offers wine, beer, juices and smoothies on its “healthy-ish” menu.

The Expat. Former H. Harper Station owner Jerry Slater is set to open this Athens cocktail bar and restaurant this spring. Expect “stirred and boozy, sophisticated cocktails, whiskey and rum on the rocks and wine with vinyl records,” according to Slater.
The James Room. Missy and Kristin Koefod, founders of 18.21 Bitters, are opening a new cocktail and coffee bar on the Eastside Beltline this spring in the SPX Alley complex at 659 Auburn Ave.
The Parlor at RFD Social. The Parlor, an extension of the 10th floor indoor lobby at Ponce City Market’s roof, will feature a 77-seat public bar area and lounge designed with European-inspired finishes such as reclaimed vintage French chandeliers and manipulated 1920s photography. The space will offer early century style games including bumper pool, tabletop shuffle board and an antique poker table. Open to the public during Skyline Park’s regular hours, the expanded lobby area will also be available for private event bookings.
