And then there were two.
Popular upscale chain Houston’s announced it’s closing its location at 3321 Lenox Road NE at the end of the month, leaving two metro Atlanta restaurants open in Buckhead and the West Paces area, Tomorrow’s News Today first reported. There are also Houston’s in California, Arizona, Texas, Louisiana, Florida and New Jersey.
The impending closure comes after Atlanta rapper T.I. ended a boycott of Houston’s restaurant chain after stories in October of alleged discrimination against black customers.
The Lenox Road location, which opened in 1977, will relocate its staff to its remaining Atlanta locations.
The restaurant, which is owned by the Hillstone Restaurant Group, did not provide a reason for the closure.
Several high-profile Atlanta chefs — including Kevin Gillespie and Anne Quatrano — have cited Houston’s as one of their go-to restaurants when eating out. The menu featured American classics including burgers, chicken and prime rib.
