Situated in the heart of Roswell’s bustling Canton Street dining district, Gate City Brewing has become a fixture of the area’s craft beer scene over the past few years.
And on Saturday, Gate City is one of the gathering spots for Georgia Beer Day, which falls on Jan. 27 this year, and helps benefit the Georgia Craft Brewers Guild.
Among the signature beers that will be on tap, 1864 American IPA, Copperhead American amber, 20 Gram cream ale, and OTP double IPA also will be pouring on Feb. 9-10 for the Gate City third anniversary celebration.
In honor of all that, my favorite Gate City beer, Terminus Baltic Porter, is today’s Beer Pick.
Terminus Baltic Porter
Gate City Brewing Co., Roswell
Available on draft and seasonally in 12-ounce cans.
Among Gate City’s first beers on offer when it opened its temporary tap room in February 2016, Terminus Baltic Porter has been popular on draft around metro Atlanta since.
It pours dark brown in color, with a tan head, and roasted malt aromas and flavors layered around notes of chocolate, coffee and molasses. At 7.8-percent alcohol, it’s a robust beer, perfect for winter sipping or pairing with hearty dishes.
Pair Terminus Baltic Porter with aged Gouda or blue cheese, grilled steak, prime rib, brisket chili, or dark chocolate.
