Sure, it’s swimsuit season, but even the buff and beautiful deserve a cheat day every now and then.

Enter National Junk Food Day, which celebrates all things greasy, sweet and calorie-laden.

If you need some ideas on where — and what — to eat today, read on:

The granddaddy of Atlanta junk food restaurants, The Varsity offers up burgers and hot dogs with a friendly “What’ll ya have?”. Looking for a guilty pleasure with a healthy-sounding name? Treat yourself to a Frosted Orange. Want some more protein to offset all the carbs? Check out some of our favorite burgers, and peep this list of places serving up some of the best patties in town, according to AJC readers.

If you’re looking for something sweet, try something from soda pop and candy shop Rocket Fizz, which has locations in Decatur and Marietta.

Satisfy your salt and grease fix with French fries from one of these Atlanta restaurants, including Fred’s Meat and Bread and Hankook Taqueria.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for — well, you know the rest. Check out these spots for OTP ice cream, check out some frozen treats with a twist and find out which ice creamery AJC readers voted on as their favorite.

We can try to convince ourselves that pizza is good for us, especially if we add veggies as a topping, but health food it ain’t. So what? It’s delicious. We love the Grandma Pie at O4W Pizza in Duluth — make your own, or try the version made by the experts. You can also check out some favorites from AJC readers and OTP spots.
