It’s almost Mardi Gras time — what better way to get in the mood than with some cajun or creole food? Check out these spots around metro Atlanta to get your gumbo, crawfish and po’boy fix:

AJ’s Famous Seafood & Po’Boys — A laid-back spot for Cajun classics including muffuletta sandwiches, gator chili, gumbos and a variety of po’boys.

Adele’s on Canton — New Orleans-bred Chef Marc Wegman serves up po’boys of both the traditional (oyster, catfish, shrimp) and unconventional varieties (roast beef, veggie), as well as muffulettas and entrees including shrimp creole and jambalaya. Steamed crab legs is NOT a creole dish. Boiled blue crabs seasoned with Zatarine's is the REAL thing. Also, roast beef po boys are real N'awlins. As long as they have a lot of gravy.

Great story and resource, but come on--"snow crab legs?!"  Does anyone really think this is Cajun or creole?  : )

Gumbeaux's in Douglasville is the best! Extensive menu, great food and service. That's why it is always crowded!

You missed The Red Snapper on Cheshire Bridge Road...long established New Orleans-style food.  SIgnature dish: Snapper Yvonne with crab and artichoke in a white wine sauce. Also Crab au Gratin, Fried oysters and a fabulous coconut cake.  Great bar....I love this place

Henry's Louisiana Grill in Acworth is worth a drive.

@JamesBoddie  Thank you so much.  I've been racking my brain trying to remember the name of that fabulous place!  Which is sad, since my Cajun grandfather's name was "Henry."  I'll remember it now!
