This marks the 100th year of the Girl Scouts of America selling their celebrated cookies, so what better way to celebrate than by introducing a new flavor? The pick for this year is S’mores, which sees chocolate and marshmallow filling nestled between two graham cookies. We tried the sweet treat in advance of its February debut to find out if it’s worth the $6 a box (Girl Scouts stalwarts such as Thin Mints, Do-si-Dos and Samoas are $4 a box). Find out what we thought here:

Want to make your own Girl Scout cookies? Check out this recipe for the Original Girl Scout Cookies:

1 cup butter

2 tbsp milk

1 tsp vanilla

2 tsp baking powder

1 cup sugar

2 eggs

2 cups flour

  1. Cream butter and sugar
  2. Add well-beaten eggs, then milk, vanilla, flour and baking powder.
  3. Roll thin and bake in a quick over.
  4. Sprinkle sugar on top

Modern day tips: Refrigerate batter for at least one hour before rolling and cutting cookies. Bake in a quick oven (375 degrees) for 8-10 minutes or until edges begin to brown.
