Best food events: beer and yoga, chili cook-off and more in metro Atlanta

Do yoga and drink beer. Chili cook-off. Learn to make holiday drinks just in time for Thanksgiving. There are lots of food and fun happening around metro Atlanta today through the weekend, so add one or all four of the following events to your calendar. Be prepared to eat, drink and have a grand ole time.

Now thru Nov. 17: Osteria Mattone is celebrating its three-year anniversary with a three-course menu featuring seasonal truffles. The limited-edition menu is available for dinner for $29 per person; a supplementary wine paring from sommelier Daniel Pernice is an additional $17.

Saturday, Nov. 19: Steinbeck’s Ale House will host its annual neighborhood Chili Cook-Off featuring restaurant chefs and neighborhood folks battling it out for top chili dishes in Oakhurst from 12-4 p.m. Entry will be $5 per person; attendees will receive a spoon and unlimited tastes. Participating restaurants will include Brick Store Pub, Twain’s Brewpub & Billiards and Taiyo Ramen.

Saturday, Nov. 19: Learn how to make seasonal craft cocktails like a professional during a mixology class called Thanksgiving Party Drinks to Impress Your Friends at GRAIN, which will begin at 2 p.m. In addition to drink-making, participants will nibble on light bites and take home house-made ingredient gift sets featuring a special holiday bourbon-cranberry sauce. The cost of the class is $59 for two, so go with your bestie or as a couple. Must be 21 years of age or older.

Sunday, Nov. 20: For a one-hour, all-levels yoga class (bring your own mat), head to Second Self Beer Company from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. After class, participants can partake in a private brewery tour and drink six 6-ounce samples of beer. Tickets are $20 in advance here for everything and $2 from each ticket will benefit the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
