Ready for your Halloween party? Whip up these drinks for a deliciously scary time.
Halloween isn’t just for kids, right? And black widows aren’t just spiders, though this drink delivers a naughty bite. Make it for one — or even better, for your whole ghoulish brood. It makes a great party punch.
42 Below Vodka spins a sticky-sweet web with this specialty cocktail, conjured up just for Halloween.
4 slices of fresh ginger
1 teaspoon of raw sugar
1 ounce vodka
2 ounces dark grape juice
2 blackberries to garnish
In a mixing glass, muddle together blackberries, ginger and sugar. Add the vodka and dark grape juice. Fill with ice, shake well, and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with 2 blackberries, if desired.
If you’re planning a Halloween party, try layering your drinks for a scary effect. The makers of Blavod Black Vodka point out that its dark color makes it perfect for that purpose. (The blackberry color is made with an infusion of a Burmese herb, black catechu.) Here’s how to give a spooky twist to a classic cocktail.
Makes 1 cocktail
Tangerine juice, to taste
Blavod Black Vodka, to taste
Place ice in glass, then tangerine juice, then vodka to create the layering effect. Tangerine juice layers more clearly than orange juice. Garnish with Halloween candy on a swizzle stick.

Melon Eyeball Martini
Before pumpkins take over the pantry, take advantage of autumn’s late melon madness with this mouth-puckering party in a glass. A splash of cranberry adds a much-needed seasonal punch to super sweet melon vodka. Use a Parisian scoop to make the melon ball garnish, or for Halloween, drop a candy eyeball in the glass for a ghoulish twist. After one or two of these, everyone will be doing the “Monster Mash.”
2 ounces melon-flavored vodka
1/2 ounce triple sec
Splash of cranberry juice
Shake together the vodka and triple sec with ice in a cocktail shaker. Pour into a chilled martini glass. Add the splash of cranberry juice.
