Two Georgia restaurants — one in Atlanta and one in Athens — have been named to Conde Nast Traveler’s list of “greatest restaurants around the globe.” The list was compiled by “real experts, our network of chefs, food writers, and most-in-the-know travelers.”
Two Urban Licks, located at 820 Ralph McGill Blvd. NE, was included because it “kicked off the New American trend in Atlanta,” according to Cherae Robinson, founder of Tastemakers Africa. “Favorites include the salmon chips, topped with fresh smoked salmon, capers, red onions, and a dab of chipotle cream cheese; the brisket-filled empanadas; the scallops and grits; and the rotisserie chicken with mac ’n’ cheese. Sit outside for a view of the downtown Atlanta skyline.”
The restaurant, which opened in 2004, serves up American cuisine from Chef Michael Bertozzi.
The only other Georgia restaurant named to the list was Seabear Oyster Bar in Athens, which contributing editor Ashlea Halpern loves for its “pillowy Parker House rolls drenched in brown butter and sprinkled with raw sugar and sea salt…crispy, briny, deep-fried clam strips…and the icy Negroni slushies that go down just a little too easy.”
